THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES
The An.uwxi Muddle. The country is to be congratulated on the settlement of the dispute between the Arapuni contractors and the Public Works Department, on the ground that no further needless expense will bo incurved hv litigation. Rut the terms of the agreement oiler very little consolation either to the general public or to the officials responsible for the difficulties that have so long delayed the installation of this great hydro-electric scheme, and for the enonnous losses incurred. To put it briefly, the contractors have won their rase all along the line. —Auckland paper.
