THURSDAY, DECEMBER Bth. (Before J. G. L. Hewitt, Esq., S.M.) LICENSING ACT. Charged with being on licensed premises after hours (Royal ALail Hotel, Woodstock) two young men were convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s each. Similarly charged (All Nations Hotel) eleven Ruatapu residents were convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s each. Charged with being found drunk at Rimu an offender was fined os and costs 10s. Two offenders, fo.und on licensed premises (Post Office Hotel) were convicted and ordered to pay costjj ]os each.

Charged with being a prohibited person and being under the influence of liquor, a ALinanui resident for whom -Mr Elcock appeared, pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence of Sergt. King, defendant, and of his wife, the ease was dismissed. Charged with being on licensed promises (Red Lion Hotel) after hours a local resident defended and after giving evidence the charge was dismissed. BYE-LAW CASES. Peter Souter, charged with cycling at night without a light, was fined 5s and costs 10s. Westland County Council (Mr Park) charged E. W. Pfahlert with driving a car without proper distinguishing marks. He did not appear. Fined 5s and costs £1 13s.

Same v. R. Wall, charged with three head of cattle allowed to wander, was fined os and costs £1 13s. Same v. Thos. Freitas, a charge with failure to produce license, when in charge of a motor cycle. Fined 20s and costs 12s. counsel’s fee £1 Is. DEBT CASES. Oliver and Duff (Mr Elcock) v. A. E. Thomas, claim £3 14s. Judgment for plaintiff with costs 23s Gd. W. Jeffries (Mr Elcock) v. Higgins and Forsett, claim £5 19s Gd. Judgment for plaintiff with costs £2 0s Gd.

Same v. J. West, claim £l. Judgment for amount with costs Bs. H. M. Coulson (Mr Elcock) v. Geo. Cooper, judgment summons. Order made for balance £2 4s Gd, in default seven days. Receiver of Land Revenue v. If. Fitzgerald, claim £24 12s. Judgment for plaintiff with costs £2. Same v. M. Fitzgerald, claim £3O los. Judgment for plaintiff with costs £1 10s. M. McYiear (Mr Park) v. I. Cunningham, claim £8 13s. Judgment for plaintiff with costs 3ls Gd.
