HOSPITAL DAY

There was not a large gathering at the Hospital Board room last night, but what the meeting lacked in numbers it fully compensated by the enthusiasm displayed by those present, which augurs well for the success of Hospital Day. Mr AA r . Jeffries was voted to the chair and after discussion it was decided to enlist the sympathies of the people of YVestland in their hospital by making a personal appeal to them by circular prior to Hospital Day, and a. street appeal in the town on that day. All employers of labour, Government offices, business firms, banks, schools, and churches through.out AA'estland will be approached by the method indicated, thus endeavouring to make the. appeal popular, and inducing the residents to becojue interested in their own institution. The various local organisations will be requisitioned viz., the Municipal Band, Sporting Clubs, Dramatic Club, etc., so as to make the people feel that no one will bo left out, thus making the appeal: to every man, woman mid child in AA’estland.

Mrs Paterson and Miss Halliday were appointed joint secretaries. Already there has been promised £75. All contributions will be publicly acknowledged through tlio Press. Apologies were received from Revs. Perkins ami Knowles-Sniifh, Messrs Breeze, Meliarry and Spiers, who all intimated their desire to assist in such a worthy cause.
