LOCAL WEATHER BUREAU
The local observer for the Dominion Meteorological Department reports the following rain and sunshine records for the week ending, Sunday Xov. 2rth.
DROPPED FTTOAL ’PLANE. LONDON, Oct. 5. AVhile two aeroplanes wore flying over Nottingham yesterday morning a two gallon tin of petrol fell from one of them and crashed through the roof of a house in Grimston road. It tore a hole 18 inches square in the roof, and then burst on the floor of a bedroom, petrol being splashed on the walls. The house, which is situated in a very thickly populated part of the city, was unoccupied, but the incoming tenant, who was engaged in the basement, beard a terrific bang. On detecting a smell of petrol be. telephoned for the fire brigade, which was soon on the scene, but its services were not required. So far tbo aeroplanes have not been identified.
