A desire for costly clothes, a richly funislied apartment in a fashionable district, and a country house in addition. led Anne McGovern, a pretty secretary to a banker, into systematic thefts, which the- police say may total £20.000. The girl, a brunette. is charged specifically with misappropriating £(it)o belonging to her employer. Air Harmon August. For several years she bad lieen bis confidential secretary, bolding a power-of-attornev over bis accounts. She admits the theft of £IO,OOO according to the police. The girl explained that her salary of £l2 a week did not satisfy her desires, and that the first small thefts, so easily accomplished. led to larger ones.
