SUPREME COURT.
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, Nov. 23. In the Supreme Court to-day, Mr Justice Herdmnn committed Roliert Clifford Fiudon, aged 10. to a Borstal Institution for three years’ detention ,on seven charges of attempting to ■cause wilful damage to property, including three of attempted arson. It was stated that accused’s mental development was retarded. .-■On three charges of forging receipts at To Awamutu, Thomas Sefton was admitted to two years’ probation. A ease of unusual interest, and with ■which was connected with important features; was commenced this afternoon, when William Harold Melville Taylor, -who -was formerly arrested on the charge of theft of a mailbag, appeared before Mr Justice llerdmnn, on two charges of receiving cheques, lost in a postal packet, contained in tho missing hag. Taylor was not charge!! by the Crown with theft of the mailbag, as on consideration of the evidence adduced, it had been decided that it was insufficient to warrant the case being submitted to a jury. Tho case is proceeding. On the charge of theft of cattle, tho Maori, Wanka Matengo, was found not guilty. THEFT CHARGE. BLENHEIM, Nov. 23. George Lester Rolfe. a young man, was committed for sentence to the Supremo Court on a charge of breaking and entering tho house of David Lambert with intent to commit theft at Scddon. Asked if ho had anything to say, accused volunteered the information that he had stolon two medals
