MANSION FIRE

Princess Mary and Lord Lnscelles were among a dozen guests at Yorkshire house party. They escaped in their night attire when an alarm of fire was given at five in the morning. The scene of the outbreak at Bretton Park, was a timbered, old world mansion standing in a thousand acres near Wakefield, the property of Lord Allendale. One of the guests in a room adjoining the nursery wing where it originated heard flames and roused Lord Allendale. Lord Lascolles and Lady Allendale ran to the smoke filled nursery and assisted m the escape of three sleeping children. The Princess assisted Lord Laseelies and saved some art treasures. Guests in various stages of attire left the house. Later, on the local brigade saved the mansion from destruction. The floor of the nursery fell through the library. The damage is estimated at thousands. Telegrams were immediately, dispatched to their Majesties stating the Princess was safe.
