GILES PROPOSED FLY. SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 9. Air Giles stated reports of stormy weather in the Pacific will not prevent his hopping off lor Honolulu on Fiidav morning. Ho said: “I have been a hundred miles at sea in all kinds of weather during the war and those old pusher type planes were much more dangerous than our modern ships.” His biplane. AVanda, to which repairs were completed yesterday. was put through a short Hight test and declared satisfactory by Giles. He will carry 450 gallons of petrol with special pump valves insuring that the plane will float indefinitely if forced to land m the water. ‘ Army officials at Honolulu had planned to aid Giles with radio beacons until it was learned that the AVanda will not carry radio. Surprise is expressed at Giles decision to dispense with radio. COTTON OUTPUT. WASHINGTON. Nov. 9. The Agricultural Department forecasts 1927 cotton production will be 12.842,000 bales, compared with I'.977 000 hales below 1926. The estimate last year was 164.000 bales, or about one per cent, above last month s forecast and 5.135,000 hales below the actual production of that year. The report credits the increase to a warm dry October, which permitted a rapid gathering of the crop; also bolls damaged bv weevils matured with less rot than usual. Cotton dropped 110 points which is about five dollars a bale in one Chicago market and six dollars a bale in New York market, after publication of the reporL
