(Australian & X.Z. Cable Association. XEAV YORK, Xov. 8. Two men were shot to death during election frays in Kentucky, and the homes of negroes were dynamited in Ohio. In to-day’s balloting, early returns show that Alississippi, which is traditionally Democratic, elected all Democratic State officials, headed by Theodore G. Bilbo, as Governor. Slack aligned with the Ku Klux Klau minority of Indiana, and the Democratic Party of Indiana, was elected Alayor of Indianapolis, succeeding Duvall. XEW YORK, Xov. 8.

Salt Lake City, Utah, elected a complete Republican city administration. Xew York City failed to re-elect its two Socialist Judges, and all Socialists running for office in the State were defeated. Tho majority of the mayors elected are Republican. New Jersey re-elected a Rpublican Assembly. The City of Reading. Pennsylvania, elected a complete Socialist City Administration as a popular protest against the extravagance of tho previous administration. Detroit elected Air Smith Alayor. He declared that lie intends to make no effort to enforce the prohibition laws. Xow York State elected a Republican Assembly, with a majority of thirty seats. Cleveland voted to retain the City .Manager plan of Government. Concord, Xew IT ampshire, reelected a male mayor, defeating tho lady aspirant for this office. Philadelphia elected a Republican city administration. Pennsylvania and Now A ork each chose Republicans to fill tho vacancies in the Federal House of Representatives. Ohio defeated a proposal urged by the Anti-Saloon League to restore a fee system for Justices trying liquor cases.

U.S. ELECTIONS. WASHINGTON, Nov. 9. The final returns show Smith, the Wet candidate, for the Detroit Mayoralty, was defeated by Lodge, who is a grand uncle of Lindbergh. It was first thought that Smith had won. hut the late returns from the outlaying districts gave Lodge nine thousand of a majority. Lodge made no campaign whatever, hut generally was regarded as a Dry candidate. Jlolpli was re-elected Alayor of San Francisco ami already has been in office for sixteen years.

Carlson, nineteen years Mayor of Jonestown (New York) was defeated by Larsen, as the present returns indicate. Sampson (Republican) was apparently elected Governor of Kentucky over Beckham, the Democratic, who opposed betting and horse racing.
