DRUIDISM.

One of the largest gatherings ever held under the banner of Druiihsm was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening when brethren assembled for the purpose of a ritual competition for a handsome shield presented by I’.D.L. Bro. AY. Robinson for competition throughout No 13 district. The shield was previously held by li. team “Westland Lodge.” The competing teams were “Star of the AYest,” Greymoiith. “Seddon Lodge,” Runanga, and “Westland Lodge.” Hokitika.

The judges were P.G.P. Bro J. Teunont. Grey, P.D.P. Bro Malone, Runanga, P.D.P. Bro. J. Fox, Hokitika. A'isitors included officers and members of “Star of the AYest,” officers and members of “Seddon Lodge.” Runanga. altogether about 90 Druids were present. ,

After a keen competition “Star of the AYest.” Greymoiith, proved to ho the best team with “AVestlaml,” Hokitika, second, and “Seddon Lodge,” Runanga, third. Among the visitors were P.G.P. Bro. Tenncnt, D.P. Bro. Boustrulge. P.D.P. Tito. Saunders. P.D.P. Bro. Guy. P.D.P. Bro. McPlieo and P.D.P. Bro. Malone.

After the competition was over supper was partaken of, the usual toast list was honoured. The judges decision was announced by D.P. Bro. Roustridge who complimented the competitors on the very high order of their work. Thf* D.P. then called on P.D.P. Bro. AY. Robinson to present the shield to the winning team. “SU'r of the AYest.” P.D.P. Bro. Saunders responded on behalf of the (1 ivymouth team.

P.G.P. Pro .T. Tennant proposed a toast to the donor of the shield (P.D.P. Bro. Robinson) and gave a very interesting and instructive speech on the value of the shield and competition in ritual work in the district •and the generosity of the donor. P.D.P. Bro. W. Robinson then responded. P.D.P. Bro. Eox then proposed the toast of the Grand Lodge and its representative D.P. Iho. Boustridge who ably responded to flic toast.

Songs and stories were then the order of the evening and wore indulged in until the ‘‘\\ c sum' ours” when the gathering dispersed after singing God Save the King and Auld Lang; Svne.
