CONCERT AND BALL

The concert and ball held at Kanieri on Wednesday last, in aid of the funds of the ICanieri School, wt-is a great success, a large crowd being present at the concert and the various items on the programme met with hearty approval. The scholars items were a special feature, praise is-due to Airs Alnnson and Aliss Forsyth for their ear© and training of the children.

The following is the programme:— Overture, The Chough Family ; chorus (seniors), “Sweet Voicerecitation, ALarjorie Elcoc-k; solo, Aliss Wylie; solo, Pat Wells; pianoforte trio, Ida Pascoo, IE Parker, and AT. Harris; solo, ,Afr Bennett; chorus, Scholars, violin solo, Air Crougli; recitation, Billy Howat; duet, E. Howat, and R. Parker; solo, Airs Findlay; action song, Scholars. INTERVAL. Overture, The Crougli Family : Christy Minstrels, Scholars; chorus, Scholars; song. Aliss Gillooly; recitation, Edrji Howat; pianoforte duet, D. Newman and Jessie AlcTntosh; chorus, Scholars; dialogue, “A Troublesome Servant.” G. Selby and J. Howat; recitation, J. W. Chesterman. “God Save the King.” Before the close, the Chairman of the School Committee, Air F. A\ . Selby, returned thanks to the performers and the audience for their atton dance, also thanking AOs Alnnson and Aliss Forsyth for their success ir bringing tbe children to such proficiency as both these ladies had spent a great deal of time and labour m training the scholars for the concert The ball which followed was we.t attended and good music was supplied bv Ross’ Orchestra. Messrs Schilling, ; and A. Boyd acted as Al.C.’s and retried out their duties in their usual capable manner. The accompanists for the concert were AUisses Forsyth, Wylie, Giese, and 0 Chest-erman and Mr Afrmsop.
