The Yorkshire committee decided they cannot longer afford an amateur in the team, purely as captain. .lo*|uese only is an amateur of sufficient cruketii.c ability, hut ho hicks experience of captaincy, so Sutcliffe has been asked and he will probably play ns an amateur. His business as an athletic outfitter is exceedingly successful and makes this possible. Sutcliffe thus follows the precedent of Jomjesc and Sharpe of Lancashire.
