LATE LOCALS.
Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. will sell in the mart on Saturday at 11 a.m. a consignment of cabbages, spring onion and brown Spanish onions. It is understood that the prospectors for coal in the Lake Kanieri district, who have been driving at the bottom of Gentle Annie terrace, have uncovered a coal seam 4ft in thickness, rising to 9 feet, with a hard sandstone roof and the same substance in the bottom. The coal is 2J chains from the side of the hill on a level drive. Three men arc working and the prospects are very encouraging.
