RIFLE SHOOTING.
(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 13. The King’s prize, the principal event of tlie meeting, started with perfect shooting conditions. E. A. Ballinger made a good start and as a result of to-day’s shooting is running third. -Masefield is also in a handy position one point less than Ballinger.
New Zealand fired a match against North Sydney and lost by the narrow margin of four points. Totals: North Sydney 960, New Zealand 956. New Zealanders were allowed by the Commonwealth Council of Rifle Associations to compete in the Commonwealth match with other Australian States.
300 varsd, W. Lingfoot (New South Vales) and E. Jones (Tasmania) tied for first and second. New Zealanders to win £1 8s 6d, Boon; £l, Higgs; 16s. Robertson; 11s, Yennell Carter. The Prince of Wales match, 300, 500 and 600 yards was won by R. Gunn (Victoria). E. A. Ballinger won £6 third. New Zealanders to win £2, Masefield, £l, Boon.
