AN APPRECIATION

EILEEN WARD. (By one of her school friends). It is fitting that the home of the Ward family should be known as me “Garden of Eden” for to such a place did Eileen Ward rightly belong. A SWC et llowcr-like girl, distinctive m appearance, simple and winsome m manner, clover of hand and head, she was a universal favourite. In her home, amongst her friencls-and they were numerous—in her class ro.m, m her studies and her was always the centre of a happy group.. Unselfish, patient and endowed with a keen sense of humour, she made life a pleasant thing for herself ami others. Her sudden illness and early death

caused a shock which will sadden all those who were the better for having come in contact with her. I hough onl\ sixteen years of age her influence for good was greater perhaps than that of many older and wiser pe pie. Those growing up side hv side with her will carry with them on their way.the sweet and fragrant memory of her happy peace bringing life, and will perhaps, think of her in Elizabeth Barrett BrowTi in"xs 1 inos : “Men by her side Grew nobler, girls purer, as through the whole town The children were gladder who tugged at her gown, If you praised her as charming same asked wliat you meant, But the charm of her presence was felt when she went.”
