Last week 8860 tons were hauled through the tunnel, the total for the corresponding

week last year was 10,100. 'I he warm weather is given as the cause of the drop in the tonnage, as the demand for coal has decreased. Last year, more damp weather was experienced at this time, resulting in the figures being maintained.
