BANDIT HUNT.

PARTS, Aug. 16. The notorious Italian bandit Polastri, who is alleged to have 8 murders and 30 burglaries in France and Italyto bis account, lias suddenly "come to life ” again. ] Last year a man who crossed the Italian frontier on the buffers of a train was tracked by T French gendarmes, and at the moment when he was about to he arrested committed suicide by putting a bullet through his head. Papers in his pocket hore the name of Polastri, and the body was identified by the Italian police. Later it was proved that it was only an accomplice of Polestri and that the latter was very much alive. Three French inspectors caught sight of him on "Wednesday at the Place de la Nation and endeavoured to take him by surprise, hut although the wrested i'rom him two loaded revolvers it was ton minutes before he was handcuffed. Questioned by an official of the Italian Ministry of the Interior, he admitted he was Polastri.

ELECTRIFIED CROPS BERLIN, Aug. 16. Herr Fitzsehe, the discoverer of the electrical manuring method, claims to have been very successful at his testing grounds at Alt Kleinetke, where he harvested between July* 12th. and July* 15th. fully ripened winter barley and winter rye, and has good prospects of harvesting a second crop in the autumn. Seed which was sown shortly after the. first crop was reaped is showing well. Herr Fritzsche has also cultivated, with the help of his electrical process, patches of sugar beet, maize and soyabean, which all promise well. He is proud of the fact that the British Government has asked for full particulars of the cultivation of sugar beet by means of the electrical process.
