PROPOSALS REVISED. DY TEI.YCEAI'II rRESS ASSN"., COPYRIGHT. WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. The resolutions amending the tariff proposals, brought down to the House some weeks ago, were introduced into the House by Air Downie Stewart today. It is shown clearly that the Arinistor has chosen the easiest way of surmounting his difficulties, and has given ear to those who made the strongest representations to him. The following are the principal alterations: Alaize, British rate 2s per cental; maize (ground) free British, one penny pci' pound general.

Item 5: The current domestic vain, of flour shall he deemed not to exceed the f.o.b. export price, plus 255. Cocoa: Threepence per pound, and fivoponce per pound. Chocolate, also cocoa or chocolate mixed with milk etc: Twenty-five per cent, and 45 per cent. Confectionery: Now 25 per cent and 45 per cent. Egg pulp: 25 per cent, or 4d per lb.; 45 per rent, or 8d per lb. whichever is the higher. Rennet: N.E.l.—British rate now 10 per cent. Floor mats and floor rugs containing animal fibre, not exceeding GO square feet: 25 per cent, and 45 per cent. Inlaid linoleum, cork carpets, rubber flooring and lloor mats of similar materials: 20 per cent, and 40 per cent.

Other linoleums (N.E.1.): Until 30th June, 1028, 20 per cent, and 40 per cent.; thereafter free and 20 per cent. Carpets, floor rugs, mats and matting (N.E.1.) : 20 per cent, and 40 per cent. Glass jars, exceeding eight fluid ounces: Until 31st. December, 1027 free and 20 per cent, thereafter 15 per cenl. and 35 per cent. Glass and oartliern roofing tiles (General) : Now .30 per cent. Sheet glass and glass rods and tubing: General, now 10 per cent. Cinematograph films: Now free, and one penny per foot. Wrapping paper: Unaltered, except that where it is paper lighter in substance than one quarter of an ounce per sheet of 20 inches by 15 inches, the duty is 0s Od per cwt. or 20 per cent. 10. s (id per c"t or 50 per cent, whichever is the higher. Carbon paper: Large sizes, free and 20 per cent, small sizes 20 per cenl. and 40 per cenl. Cultivators, harrows, ploughs, drills, seed and fertiliser sowers or distributors, lime sowers, seed or grain cleaners, and cellular" seed or grain separators: 10 per cent, and 35 per cent. Other agricultural machinery, including hand-worked ploughs, cultivators and seed drills, also mouldboard plates, unbent steel shareplates cut to pattern, skeitli plates, plough beam forgings and discs ldr harrows or ploughs: Free and free. Vacuum cleaners: Free and 20 per cent.
