RECOAIAIENDATIONS by dr AI.uEACIIERN, WELLINGTON. Sept. 2s. Dr AlacEarliorn’s main recoin mend ations are:—(1) That there should he a Dominion Hospital Hoard comprised of represenatives of the Health Department, British .Medical Association and Hospital Boards, to determine and co-ordinate the main features of hospital policy. (2) Redistribution of hospital districts. with a reduction in number. (3i Addition of pay-wards in general hospitals to provide for all sections of the community.
(-1, Wider adoption of the principle of honorary medical staffs lor public hospitals.
(5) Abolition of the present system of the superintendent in many hospitals carrying on dual vocations, administrative and clinical, and giving full time to the former only.
ifi) Promotion of more voluntary effort and community spirit in connection with the Dominion hospitals. In accordance with an arrangement made just belore Dr AlacEachern s departure. it is intended to hold a conference of representatives of the Health Department. British Medical Association and the Hospital Boards’ Association to consider the recommendations in the report.
