HIGH PRICES REALISED. ADOINCTON STOCK SALES. CHRISTCHURCH. Sept. 29. High prices were realised for all classes of stock at the metropolitan weekly market at Addington yesterday. the sale being the best that has keen held this year. In the fat cattle section the entries were exceptionally small, with the result that values reached their highest point since last spring. The stiff rise in beef prices was reflected in the mutton prices, which also sltowed an advance on previous sales. Good-ipiality beef ranged about 50s per hundred lb.-,. The fat sheep sale was inclined to he irregular, hut values hardened front the outset and moderately-conditioned wethers and the host of the owes made exceptionally good figures. In the store sheep section, keen competition prevailed, certain classes ol stock realising price much above the average of late sales. Verniers and fat pigs met with a strong demand. tallies for dairy cattle also advanced on those obtained at recent sales. Eat Cattle- In a few eases prime heifer and cow beef and mediumweight steers sold at from 52s to 54 s per hundred pounds, ordinary prime steers ,|7s to 50s, medium quality beef I Is fid to His fid. heavy beef 58s fid lo 1 Is. .ordinary cow beef 33s to -12 s fid and inferior beef from .'ils to 3fis per hundred pounds. Eat. sheep—Extra prime wethers to 58s Id. prime wethers -R.s to 51s, medium wethers Ils to Kb, light wethers 05s to Ids, extra prime ewes to 50s Id. prime ewes 09s to -19 s, medium ewes 00s to 38s, light ewes 25s to 325, prime hoggets 33s to -Ids, medium hoggets 28s lo 32s fid.
Store sheep—For wethers the competition was very keen, and lor lambs it was almost equally strong. Values were from Is to 2s a head hotter than at last week's sale, every class advancing in price. Ewes and lambs advanced up to Is a head, ewe hoggets up io “s and wethers Is. At the close of the sale many of those wishing lo buy were left unsatisfied. Values were: Half-bred wether hoggets to 27s Id. cull wether hoggets 20s -Id to 20s 9d, crossbred wether hoggets 25s to 25s oil, cross-hretl ewe hoggets 33s Id. halfbred ewe hoggets 33s fid to 33s Od. forward four and six-tooth half-bred wethers 35s 7d to 37s Id. four and sixtooth half-bred wethers 30s oxl to 3-I.s Od, lower conditioned four, six and eight-tooth half-bred wethers 28s fid to 30s. good aged half-bred owes and lambs 17s to LSs s<l, aged half-bred owes and lambs 1-ls fid to 15s Id. aged three-quarter bred owes and lambs Ms fid to Ills.
Spring lambs—Ninety-three spring lamb were penned. Considering the early stage of the season most of them were well grown and prime. The heavier entry resulted in an casing of values. There was an absence of flic fancy prices that have ruled at recent sales, hut values were good.
pigs—Tn the fat pig section the entry was a medium one for haeoners, with a good number of porkers. Prices were fairly firm, with a hardening tendency for pork. Values were: Choppers £3 to £1 16s, light haeoners £3 8s to £3 15s, heavy haeoners £1 to £1 9s, extra heavy haeoners to Cl 17s, average price per lb. ssd to fi}d, light porkers 43s to 50s, heavy porkers 52s to fiOs. average price per lh. 7d to Bid. A very large yarding of store pigs was offered, hut they were mostly of the smaller classes of pigs. Considering the size of the entry the market must ho considered a very satisfactory one from the viewpoint of vendors. Practically the "hole offering was cleared at auction. Amities were: Small wcaners 12s io 15s, large weaners lfis to 225, small slips M to IPs. large slips 22s to 27.< fid. medium stores 29s to 33 s.
