HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD

THURSDAY, SEPT. 29th. The Board met at 4.30 p.m. Present: —Messrs G. A. AYood (Chairman), AL. Houston, T. AA T . Bruce, and E. AA r . Heenan. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INAVAIID CORRESPONDENCE. From Government Statistician acknowledging returns. —Received. From Alarino Department acknowledging letter and balance sheet.—Received. From AA'ilson and Spence, terminating hire of winch.—Received. From Lang’s Road Sawmill Coy. transferring skid rights to Pine Timber Coy. Ltd.—Received. A T arious other letters of a formal nature were also received. Afr Bruce moved that the Secretary take any steps necessary - to recover from hirers of the pile-driving engine any such cost of repairs as was necessary-, caused by neglect. Seconded by Air Heenan and carried.

The Signalman reported a nearly straight channel carrying 9ft of water; that misehievious damage had been done to the signal station building, the door panels broken in, the window and frame smashed, running rigging destroyed and that the lines attached to life buoys are continually being stolen.—Received. It was resolved to notify the police and to make an effort to obtain lines with distinguishing marks.

It was resolved that the Hospital Board ho notified that the Board desires the removal of two huts facing the end of Beach Street on their being vacated by their present occupants. Accounts amounting to £719 5s were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
