PARLIAMENTARY.
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)' THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Sept. 28. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. Three days leave of absence was granted Hon. W. Stewart on account of illness in his family. The Legislative Amendment Bill was received from the House of 'Representatives and read the first time. The Council adjourned at 2.33 p.m. until to-morrow. THE HOUSE. T.n the House the greater part of the day was occupied with a discussion on the Imprest Supply Bill No 4 which appropriated the sum of £1.760.000 in payments of salaries and other purposes. The Bill was eventually passed after a lengthy debate on the subject of unemployment.
The House then went into Committee on the Inspection of Machinery Amendment Bill, and passed the short title and then reported progress. The House rose at 10.00 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. to-morrow.
