If he had put out his head, the wind would have broken his neck. If he had put out his hand, it would have snapped at the wrist. FLIGHT ACROSS PACIFIC. SAN FRANCISCO. Sept. 27. The details of Ivingsford, Smith and Ulm’s plane have been disclosed. The machine will retain the monoplane form, lint it is being rebuilt. It has a wing spread of 73 feet, and it is 40 feet in length from the nose to the tail tip. The petrol capacity is IGOO gallons, comprising a main tank of 809 gallons and two smaller tanks holding 300 gallons each, all in the fuselage and two small 100 gallon tanks set on each wing. The plane weighs 14,000 pounds, fully loaded for the flight. Three new AA’right motors are being installed, and they will have nine cylinders and 225 horse-power each. Two arc being set fn parallel, and the third will be directly behind them, and will centre on the fuselage. Two of the engines are sufficiently powerful to keep the plane in the air. The motors are guaranteed to develop 105 miles per hour, hut it is expected that they will he able to develop a speed of 130 miles an hour.
