LATE LOCALS.
Arthur Oscar Warwick, miner, of Diinollie, proceeded against Hugh Trouland, insurance agent, of Greynioutli, at a civil sitting of the Greymouth Court yesterday for recovery of a gold watch, chain, silver match box and a gold-mounted greenstone pendant, given to defendant as security for a loan of £2 in 1919. Plaintiff was represented by Air AV. McCarthy and defendant by Air AV. Joyce. Plaintiff contended that he had written defendant offering to repay the loan with interest, hut had received no reply since 1924, when he received a letter from Trouland stating that the articles had been disposed of. After other evidence had lieon given, the Magistrate, Air AV. Aleklrum, gave judgment in plaintiff’s favour as follows : £lO for the chain, £2 for the pendant, and 7s 6d for the match-box, with Court costs £2 ss, solicitor’s fee £4 3s 6d, and witnesses’ expenses £1 3s 4d; total £l9 19s 4d.
