AAINNER’S REMARKS. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) LIDO, Sept. 26. The winning airman, Norman AVebstor, whose age is 27 years, is a stocky cheerful, red-haired man, with an Air Force Cross. He stepped nonchalantly from his plane, showing no sign of an ordeal. He quietly remarked : “lam jolly glad to have won for Britain. She is going to celebrate. So shall I.” Tho performance shatters all previous records for aeroplanes. The previous best- was 2781 miles an hour, and for seaplanes 258 1-3 miles. The donor of Schneider Cup. AL Jacques Schneider, was once a wealthy French sportsman. Ho was believed to l>e dead, but- lie is at present living in poverty in the Riviera.
