(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) FLYING WITH A LION. NEW YORK, Sept. ID. Martin Jensen, the winner of the second Dole Honolulu prize, crashed on Saturday, narrowly escaping death, in the mountains of Northern Arizona. Early on Friday ho left Los Angeles for a non-stop trans-continental flight, with a tame movie lion as his sole passenger. A special cage was built behind the pilot. The mountain-side suddenly loomed out of Die fog. and the plane was demolished.
Jensen was stunned. When he opened his eyes, it was to sec Leo pleasantly sleeping 50 feet- away from the broken cage.
“I was sent to deliver tlio lion, and if I could not do it aboard the aeroplane. T was at liberty to try it walking.’’ said Afr Jensen to a party of cowboys who found him on Sunday afternon leading the lion by the collar and trying to find a waterhole. atr race smash. NEW YORK. Sept. 20. Fifteen airplanes hopped off from Roosevelt Field this .morning for a 2275 miles National Air Race to Spokane, Washington State. Shortly after the start on plane crashed, the pilot and mechanic being killed.
