There is no prepartory drudgery setting tires and carrying fuel, nor any aftermath in clearing away the residue of a wood or coal fire, with the extra work in dusting. The great convenience assured by the use of gas heating appliances is bringing them into universal popularity, and it is remarkable how the use of gas is growing in Hokitika.
