CRICKET.

(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.)

LORD HAAVKE’S COMMENTS. LONDON, Sept. 13

Lord Hawke, the well known exYorkshire captain has written to Donglas Hay, New Zealand team manager: “Onr fellows 170 in the afternoon was ridiculous to your fellows 5 for 391. That's cricket they enjoy. Ours are all too serious. No doubt the gates were poor but if you arrange a test or two, more folk would come to see you.” Leading; playors assured flay tliat the present side was worthy of being given tests. Hay is exploring the prospects and is convinced they would only have to seek tests and they would ho granted them. Although the tour lias resulted in a fairly heavy loss, the team’s performances together with the attendances when the weather was line, should be sufficient assurance to the New Zealand Cricket Council to face another tour fin 1931. Tt is hoped that the Englishmen who go to Australia next year, will omit some small matches and play two in New Zealand.
