CHINESE TROUBLE.
(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) REPORTED CHINESE MASSACRE. (Received this day at S a.m.) PEKING, Sept. 13. The Vernacular press report the wholesale massacre of notorious Red Spear bandits and members Of the Heavenly Gate Society by soldiers belonging to Fengyulisiang, a Christian general, as a reprisal for several soldiers murdered by bandits. Northern Ilonnn refugees declare the massacre was '.unprecedented in recent years and was carried out without regald to age or sc.x, the victims including wives and families. Bandits estimat' s which place the killed at between thirty thousand, and eighty thousand art; probably exaggerated. Further riots at 'Hankow were prevented by the arrival of military reinforcements from Wuchang. They are now engaged in rounding up Communists.
