BALLOON RACE. NEW YORK, Sept. 11. The international balloon race started from Detroit on Saturday in the direction of the Atlantic. Spain, England and Switzerland entered one each, Italy, France and Belgium two, United States and Germany three. VANCOUVER. Sept. 12.. A Detroit message states that five balloons in the international race came down on Sunday night. I Lev were Belgian. Swiss, German and United States Army and French entries. LUCKY LINDBERGH. NEW YORK. Aug. 28.
Now that the secretaries of Charles Lindbergh, the hen of the lone Atlantic flight have completed sorting the aviator’s huge mail, it is announced that ho received 3,500,000 letters. 10(1.000 telegrams, 14.000 packages and 2090 proposals of marriage. Lindbergh also received an offer of £200,090 to go through it real marriage ceremony in front of a movie camera, and business offers total £1.200.000. Return postage cost £2OOO. Lindbergh replied to many in longhand. ' NAVAL AERIAL ROAIEO. WASHINGTON, Aug. 28. Lieut. Titos E. Williamson, a naval flyer, was yesterday court-martialled for flying dangerously low over the city. He was accused of being an aerial Romeo, flying low in order to Wow kisses to his sweetheart, who was standing in the window of an apaitrnent building.
