BOY SCOUTS

The members of the Second Hokitika Troop journeyed to Greymouth last l Saturday at the invitation of the Greymonth Troop, ami spent a most enjoyable day. Football matches between representative teams from both Scouts and Cubs occupied the day. In the former the visitors won alter a very good game, by ,39 points to 9. The Cubs’ match proved very even and ended in a draw, the score being 9 points each. Tn the interval the visiting Troop were tile guests of the Greymouth Troop, members of the latter taking one or more home with them to lunch in true Scout fashion. To-morrow (Saturday) Greymouth returns the visit, and Hokitika Scouts are mustering in full strength at the station at 9 a.in. to give them a welcome on their arrival, equal to their own. The forenoon will 1 he occupied with football matches in the Square, and in the afternoon there will he friendly rivalry in various games and sports. Hospitality is to lie arranged for lunch in like manner as at Grevmouth. Exchange visits such as these are most useful in strengthening friendships and promoting a keener scouting spirit and efficiency. Paernts and all others interested are cordially invited to the Square, as the widest interest of grown-ups is earnestly sought to help the movement which from regular reports received is rapidly spreading throughout the Dominion as in other parts of the world, both ladies and gentlemen of the highest prominence giving it their active support amid their otherwise busy lives. Likewise it is hoped that all who can will attend the annual meeting of the Troop to be held in the County Chambers on Tuesday evening next at 8 o’clock. Those of world-wide experience tell us that the efficiency and success of a troop is most surely indicated by the interest taken in it In the community, and great things arc hoped of the Second Hokitika Troop which now numbers over 50. It must not be forgotten that, bj ■ invitation of the officers of the loca 1 Territorials the Troop will take part ii ■ the Church Parade on Sunday next ■ parading at the same hours, and join ing in the march to and from church
