The running events had to be postponed on account of the weal her conditions. The Ball in the evening was a huge success and showed great credit to the energetic committee and last but not least. Miss B. Evans na:d her splendid orchestra. Mr T. Green, in a neat speech thanked all concerned and presented bis brother, the winner of the big chop, with the gold medal, which was donated by Mr L. Williams. AVe are all pleased to see tlie smiling fa.ro of Mr J. Finely wlio lias just tetnrned from the Westland Hospital after having six weeks as a patient in that institution. Mr AT. Carroll, tie? Government Overseer, is confined to his home as ho had the misfortune to have his horse roll on him. A similar accident befell Mr L. Williams, who had to go to Hokitika, to receive medical attention.
I notice among the visitors at the Glacier Hotel Mr and Mrs Ave Dowell and family of TCokatahi. also Air and Mrs McCollum and family of the Tvokatabi Dairy .Factory. Mr Sam Evans (Mayor of Ross) was down for the sports, also Mr Walter Scott and family, of Groymonth. Miss La-wry of Christchurch was also present.
The Wniho entertainers are holding a dramatic entertainment on the 19th. for the purpose of endeavouring to obtain funds for the erection of the new Anglican Church here, and judging by tiro way the energetic; secretary, Mrs L. Gihh, is disposing of the tickets, the Memorial Hall will he overcrowded. Waiho’s first double christening occurred on Wednesday when the Rev. Young baptized the infant son of Airs Peter Graham, and the infant daughter of Mrs Alex Graham.
