BRISBANE, Sept. 7. After debating the Premier, Mr McCormack’s motion, tho Queensland Parliament adjourned to-day till September 15th. At a mass meeting, the South Johnstone sugar strikers to-day unanimously rejected tho terms of settlement proposed by arbitration, and drew up now terms, which will be submitted to a meeting of representatives of the combined Unions. If these terms arc rejected by a meeting, the matter will be referred back to the Disputes Committee. At a meeting of three thousand members of the Transport Workers’ Union, at Brisbane it was unanimously decided not to handle any goods from the railways while the strike continues; but so far, petrol has not been declared “black.” For the first time, the large firms are feeling a. loss of business, and numbers of firms have decided to give their employees their annual holidays while business is slack. If the strike position continues, it will result in many dismissals. Trore will be a complete cessation of all train services to-morrow. MELBOURNE, Sept. 7. A conference between the President of the Seamen’s Union and the General Secretary of the Australian Railways Union to-day decided to summon a conference of the Seamen’s Union, the Waterside Workers’ Federation, the Railways Union and the Marine Stewards’ Union, to discuss the possibility of the Queensland strike spreading to other States. The present policy of those organisations is to confine tho dispute to Queensland.
