NEW ZEALAND TEAM AT HOME. WALES V. NEW ZEALAND. wales match drawn. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.)
LONDON, Sept. 6. !\ ales resuming batting to-day in an excellent position found runs coming steadily though there was nothing outstanding in the halting. Davies and Raikes made acceptable additions to the score hut when the innings declared the total was only !) for 183. This left New Zealand 236 to get with three hours left for piay. In face of this order Dempster and Mills who opened the hatting got really busy and found forcing tactics by far the most successful. In thirty minutes before tea adjournment they had put on 79 without loss. Though Barnes this time was unsuccessful all tho Welsh howling was extremely accurate and liberties could not lie taken with it, and alter tea it soon became evident that it was hopeless to force a finish. All chance of hitting off the runs, disappeared with Dempster’s dismissal at 70 and Rage and Lowrv similarly set themselves to keep their wickets up. Som after six when the total had readied 121 for the loss of two men, the game ended a draw, much in New Zealand’s favour.
