The death took place on Sunday at the O’Connor Home, Westport., of Patrick Melncrney, an old resident of the district, who worked for . many years for the Westport Coal Company at Granity, and also worked at Reef ton. He was a native of County Clare. Trehid, 74 years of age, and lind been about 50 years in New Zealand.

Mr George Learniont died at Pennistou on Friday evening, at the age of 80 years. Deceased was a pioneer of the Coast, and had resided lor 13 years at Denniston, where, until a few years ago, he worked as a miner. His death took place at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr Duncan Cochrane.

Tiie District Racing Committee niol at Greymouth yesterday when the application of H. MeMullan to ride horses ill training was recommended to the Racing Conference. A.
