THE COUNCIL, WELLINGTON, Sept. 1, The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The War Funds Amendment Bill was read a second time proforma and referred to the Statutes Revision C'ommitttee. Same questions were raised in the course of the second reading of the Egmont National Park Amendment Bill on account of a proposal to enable certain loan moneys to be raised without an actual poll of ratepayers being taken hut the Leader oi the Council, Sir F. D. Bell, explained matters to the questioners satisfaction. and the second reading was put through. The Bill was then put through the final stages and passed without amendment.
Whakatano County Council Empowering and Loan Money Diversion Bill was read a second time. The Council adjourned at 3.8 p.rh. until 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday next. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.dU p.m. The afternoon sitting of the House was fully occupier! with a discussion of departmental reports. In the evening eight local Bills wore read a third time and passed. The War Disabilities Removal Bill, Savings Banks Amendment Bill were also passed and tlie annual Taxing Bill was read a second time. , The House rose at 1.25 a.in.
