a match with Bedfordshire, a second class County, also low 'down on the list. The start was delayed bn rain for forty minutes. The. County won the toss and decided to go in. The first pair had put on 25 when Morritt’s slows brought on disaster. Three men went for I and five in all for 55. Ifoidstoek the only professional in the County eleven was caught, at mid-off and Alston and Buckley clean howled in successive overs Bain then came on again and held play up till luncheon, after which the ground had readied such a state that the game had to he abandoned for the day. Langridge the young Sussex professional who has been doing well this summer goes to Auckland with Bowley at the close of the season. BEDFORDSHIRE—Ist Tunings. Rhodes took 4 for 72. Yorkshire in the first innings made 142 for T (Holmes, not out, 78. Sutcliffe (54). The match was drawn. For Warwick against Somerset Wyatt took 5 for 80. and QuaiTe 4 for 28. For Somerset Lee took 5 for 23. Somerset won. For Northants against Essex TuPp took 7 for 52. Northants won. For Middlesex against Notts, Haig (not out) 104. The match does not count.
