Only three matches were proceeded with long enough to he counted in the championship. Kent, in the first innings made 315 (Ilardinge 154. Ashdown 112), and in the. second were two down for 243. when they declared (Ilardinge, not out, 82, .1. Bryan 12S). Somerset in the first innings made 211 (Earle 51, Freeman took five wickets for 99). Tn the second innings they made 55, T\ right taking six wickets for 29. Kent won hy 310 runs. Tn Kent’s second innings Ilardinge and llryan put on 19 for the first wicket, in two hours. Bryan played powerfully, driving and placing to leg brilliantly. Ho hit five sixes and eleven fours. Earle, in his 51, included five sixes. For Sussex agafns Glamorgan, Bowlev took six wickets for G 9. For Glamorgan Mercer took four for 41, and Clay four for 21. Glamorgan won. Tor Notts against Northaiits, H. Staples took five u iekoLs for s(i. For Northaiits Jimp took five for 92. Nolls won. For Worcester against Middlesex Boot took live wickets for <l9, and Jewell four for 20. The iriati h was not counted in tne competitions.
