WESTLAND COMPETITIONS

OPENING TO-MORROW NIGHT. This is the eve of the resumption of the Westland Competitions. A fournight’s session begins to-morrow evening at the Soldiers’ Hall' at 8 o’clock punctually. Full particulars of the items set down for the ten sessions (day and night; were given in the programme, circulated with the town edition of this paper yesterday. A| 8 o'clock to-morrow evening there will he a. short presidential address, and the competition will begin forthwith. The judges arrive to-morrow and everything will be in readiness for the event which is ol great interest to flic town and district. To-day a commodious stage was erected in the hall and ample loom will he provided for the dancing section which begins on Saturday, amt will be a special feature of this competition. Extra seating will be put in to-inorow in readiness to accommodate the numerous patrons expected. During the last couple of days there has been a steady demand for season tickets, so good attendances should prevail. The following competitors wfll appear in the order given on Friday evening in the first section ot the test recitation “The ’Xmas Guest.” (1) Jean Dowell, (2) Esme Hanrahan, (3) Beatrice Stephens. (1) Pearl DowcS'l, (3) Alan Shannon, (G) Clifford Duncan, (7) Ella Groufsky. (8) Harold Rowe.

The first section of “Who’s Who ?’’ are as under:—(l) (1. Agnow, (2) Violet Ross, (3) May Grotifskv, (4) J. Fitzgerald, (5) AY. Dwiui, (6) R. Groufsky, (7) Thelma. Thomas, (8) Margaret Moore, (9) Marjorie McCarthy, (10) Alan Coles. These competitors appear on Saturday morning at 11.55 a.m. A number of competitors have so far not handed in typewritten copies or sketches, monologues etc. and the Secretary requests that they be forwarded to him without further delay.

Competitors’ passes may lie obtained from Mr Morris on Friday morning.

ALTERATIONS IX TIMETABLE DANCING SEC! lON.

Saturday evening: Junior Girls’ Concerted Classic Dance and Senior Girls Corps do Ballet will be interchanged. Monday evening: Junior Girls’ Concerted Ballet will replace Junior Girls’ Pas de Seul Ballet recalls, and will Inflow operatic .solos. Senior Giles’ Pas de Seal Bailee will follow Piano Solo, “Happy Summer Days’’ recalls.
