Garibaldi, cabled on 31st. March, states his detention at Liverpool is ending. He has received permission to leave England on 19th. The Bishop of Gloucester (Dr Headlan) gave a comprehensive inoisive conception of a United Church, pleading for the importance of Christian unity. TAXI-CAB ACCIDENT. LONDON.- Aug. 16. Doctor Mrs H. F. Holmliden, of Auckland, was detained at Charing Cross hospital as a result of a taxicab aceident. The driver attempted to avoid a pedestrian and crashed into a refuge at Haymarket wrecking the cab. The driver and pedestrian are also in the hospital. NEW AMATEUR RULE. LONDON. Aug. 16. Val Barker, President of the Amateur Boxing Association and Secretary of the International Amateur Boxing Federation, questioned regarding the Olympic Committee’s decision says’ it is certain all national members of the Federation will be debarred from boxing at Amsterdam Olympic.
