Chiang Kai-shek’s erstwhile army is retreating in disorder from ail fronts concentrating on Chinkiang and Ynngtske Point, (iO miles from Nanking, towards Shanghai on the NankingShanghai railway. Already fifty thousand have arrived. Apprehension is felt by Nanking residents whether the city will he defended or left to tiie ravages of undisciplined Southerners.
