Mr Hay llalkett .sat in camera at the Alarylehoue Police Court ami took evicl'.nce in support of a charge against a man under arrest at WeL'ington, in connexion with the alleged theft of a mail hag, containing registered packages to the value of over £'lo,ooo, whilst in transit on the Great Western Railway from Cardiff to London. Mr Gallagher conducted the case for the Postmaster-General. Twenty-seven witnesses were examined. their evidence will he forwarded to New Zealand, and it will he for magistrates there to decide if it is sufficient to justify them extraditing the man untier the Fugitive Offenders’ Act.
