At the Leichhardt Stadium Tommy Fairhafl (10.0) out pointed Purdy (9.12)) in a fifteen rounds contest. The light was very crude, both men trying for a knock-out at the expense of scientific boxing. Purdy almost had 1 1 is opponent outod in the fourth round, delivering two hard lefts to the chin, the hell saving the Australian. Alter this Purdy was heavily punished about the body. There were many breaches of rules, both men being repeatedly warned by the referee. Both men fought fiercely throughout, and in the fifteenth round two bard rights opened a deep gash in Purdy’s temple, which bled fiercely, both men at the end of the fight being covered in blood. Fairhall established a good lead early in the fight and continued scoring major points, establishing a comfortable margin. At the conclusion Purdy’s chances to win were marred bv bis excessive clinching. NEW YORK. Aug. 4.
Tom Heeney, the New Zealand heavy-weight boxer, won from Bud Gorman, of Wisconsin, on a foul, in the third of a scheduled ten round feature bout here to-night at Madison .Square Garden.
