A euchre tournament will he held in the Woodstock Hall to-morrow (Friday) night at 8 o’clock sharp, in aid of injured football players. There will be six valuable prizes and also a lucky table. Admission to euchre Is, dance to follow.—Advt. In connection with the Okuru fire reported elsewhere we learn that the large ten-roomed dwelling, with a considerable quantity of furniture and outbuildings was totally destroyed on -Monday night. The buildings were insured to the amount of £250, but this entails a considerable loss as the house cost over £BOO to construct. I here are no details as to the saving of the records of tho Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, Meteor-: oiogical records for thirty years. In the course of the hearing of some prosecutions at the .Magistrate’s Court to-day, Air Park, County Solicitor, for the informant, stated that considerable damage was accruing to County roads by the transport of heavier loads than the roads had been classified for. The regulations provided for a limit of loading, and the present cases were brought as a warning so that lorry proprietors in particular, who were the chief offenders, would regulate their loads to the standard of the road. The roads of Westland County are classified in four classes, ranging from 2) tons to 8 tons. As liberal a classification as possible lias been made, and those engaged in the carrying trade should make themselves acquainted with the limits which have been duly set out in accordance with the motor traffic regulations.
