ALLEGED CATTLE STEALING. PALAIER ST ON N., Aug. 4. At the Supreme Court, the trial commenced of Kenneth Humphries on three charges of cattle stealing. The. indictment alleged theft at Waituna West, near Fielding, of three cows, and three yearling heifers, the property of Gertrude Huddleston. The Crown case alleged the lattei lent accused some of her stock, and he disposed of several head. Accused was found guilty with a strong recommendation to lenieny on account of the unbusinesslike nature of the agreement between the accused aiul the owner of the stock.
