(Bv Telegraph—Per Press Association.) THE HOUSE. WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The business of the afternoon was of a mi rely formal character, consisting of the presentation of departmental reports which were discussed at length.
At the evening sitting Hon. Stewart (Minister of Finance) presented the Budget for tho year, the reading of which occupied fifty minutes, at the conclusion .of which the House rose at 8.45 ji.ni. till 2.30 p.m. next- day.
