(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) N.Z. HOCKEY TEAM MELBOURNE. July 30. The New Zealand hockey team defeated University easily by It to 1. The New Zealanders displayed g rcMt dash and accuracy. The game "as hard and fast. MELBOURNE. -July M.. The hockey match, New Zealand v. Victoria, ended in a draw, three goals oneh. The weather wits line, and there v as ~ .rood attendance at the match. The New Zealand team was as follow*: Eletcher. Mahoney. Soper. Cole. Morris. Hove. Seecomlw. Lusty. Bell. Watts and Spiers. Victoria were first to score. New Zealand then attacked, and Hore * r ofiWl cleverly. Victoria again attacked, gaining; their second goal. Then some brilliant hal"f-haek play by Hore resulted in Watts evening the scores. New Zealand were attacking at the half-time hell. After the interval New Zealand led off strongly their hacks showing up well. Spiers was playing cleverly. New Zealanders’ plav was systematic and smart, and the Victorian goal was threatened, but the goalie clean'd. New Zealand made many attacks, but the defence of the Victorian backs was too strong, and the home team took a turn at the offence. After many shots the Victorians scored, hut Hore again soon equalised the score with a clever goal. Spiers, the left full-back, brilliantly stopped a strong Victorian attack, but the home team was still gressive at the final .hell- - New Zealand’s best- -players were Hore. Sopor, Bell, ’Watts and Lusty.
