BARNARD'S CRASH.
LONDON, July 27. Major Beaumont, appearing for tho Imperial Airways at the inquest on flic airman Barnard, said that the latter had lioeii released for the King s Cup race. The company felt it had lost one of the world's most magnificent airmen. Mr Mayor, the engineer responsible for the installation of the motors hy the Bristol Coy., said that Barnard’s machine was passed yesterday. The only question was which ol the four propel lots should he used for the King's Cup race. These '.ere successively tried. It was when the fourth was being tested that tbo engine stalled and the plane crashed. Eyewitnesses said that it- was apparent that Barnard was attempting a forced landing. The police have arrested six men. one of whom was fatally wounded, owing to resistance, when they were surprised in eomploteing a seventy-five foot tunnel under the State Printing Works, where the notes of the Polish Bank are printed. The tunnel was equipped with an electric driller. Only a wooden floor was immediately under the safe, containing £125.000 worth of notes, being that day’s output. COWES REGATTA. LONDON, July 30. At the opening of the Cowes Regatta, the result of the big race was: Westward 1. King’s Brittania 2, Lnlworth 3.
