IRISH ELECTION REPORTS.
DERLTN. May 30. Something over one thousand polrtical speeches were made in the Free State during the week-end, and some amusing incidents are reported, illustrating the fact that there is «nil humour in Irish elections. In some towns no fewer than five meetings were held simultaneously by rival candidates and in one case two rivals spoke at the same time from the same platform. Tile meetings addressed by Mr P. •I. Hogan. Minister for Agriculture. always have a breezy touch about them, and he was in his best form at Roscommon yesterday. "What salary are you getting " demanded a persistent heckler. “Seventeen hundred a year.’ retorted Mr Ilogan. “but T am worth twice as much. Would you like to have it?” “I would.” said the heckler. “Will you give it to me?” “Not likely.” came the reply. “You should have plenty of money left from all the banks and post-offices you robbed in 1922.” The Free State Parliament was dissolved to-day by a proclamation of tho Governor-General, and the writs for the general election have been irssued.
