NAVAL LIMITSLONDON, July 26
Official circles deny that the British Ambassador to America, Sir Esmc Howard, has been instructed to protest against anti-British misrepresentation in America. The officials .state that the merits of the British case at Geneva are gradually emerging from a fog and confusion in which the United press had originally placed them.
Vice-Admiral Field is ill, and has been compelled to return to London from Geneva. Rear-Admiral Pound replaces him.
off BACK TO GENEVA. LONDON, July 27. “We shall finish the work this time one way or the other. AVe are returning after long discussions with Cabinet. I think the position is clear and Britain’s case remains fundamentally unchanged. Nevertheless I have just as good a hope of settlement as when I came (back.’’ declared Mr Bridgemnn when leaving for Geneva accompanied by Lord Cecil and Bold .Tellieoe. It is understood the delegation is taking hack a carefully drafted plan to which they are more confident America and Japan will assent. Sir J. Parr returns at the week-end.
